United Parish of Alpena

"O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever." Psalms 118:1

Worship services are held each Sunday morning at 10am. Sunday School is also held at 10am from Mid-September through May.

Pastor Sarah Herman has served the Alpena United Parish since September 2005. We are blessed to have an active membership of people who give their time and attention to the Parish by faithful attendance and leadership. In 2007 we started a choir again. They sang several times during the year including at Christmas. In 2008 we held our first Easter Cantata on palm Sunday. We are thankful to have an active choir that adds to our worship services.

Our youth enjoy times of togetherness and keep very active within the church. They present a Christmas program each December and at Easter time, along with their parents and grandparents, they act out the Easter story. Our Sunday School is very young. The children are full of life and questions about the Lord. We have a wonderful group of teachers and high school youth to lead the littlest members of our church. In 2009 we revived the tradition of Bible School and had 30 children in attendance for an action-packed week of music, games, crafts and worship.

Our church has an amazing group of women who support the congregation in so many ways. The United Methodist Women meet each month to study God's word and to enjoy fellowship. They serve our church by serving at funerals and community dinners. We are grateful for their ministry.

The Alpena United Parish is a merged congregation which consists of the previous Bethlehem United Church of Christ and United Methodist Church. Our community is very blessed to have this wonderful place of worship where everyone is welcome!
